A debut goal from Everton's Romelu Lukaku sees off West Ham United in a five-goal thriller at Upton Park.

Two stunning free kicks from Leighton Baines and a debut goal from Romelu Lukaku helped Everton to a dramatic 3-2 victory over West Ham United at Upton Park in the Premier League.

Both teams made a lively start to the game, but it was Roberto Martinez's side that came closest in the opening stages.

Belgian international Kevin Mirallas curled an effort towards goal in the eighth minute which Jussi Jaaskelainen could only parry, the rebound falling just out of Steven Naismith's reach.

West Ham created few clear-cut chances, but took the lead just after the half-hour mark through former Manchester United youngest Ravel Morrison.

The midfielder let fly from 20 yards, beating Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard with the aid of a deflection to score his first Premier League goal and give his side the lead going into the interval.

Everton looked like a rejuvenated side after the break following the introduction of Lukaku and James McCarthy, and they drew level just after the hour mark.

England international Baines curled one of his trademark free kicks around the wall from 25 yards out, beating Jaaskelainen to restore parity with 30 minutes left to play.

More drama followed in the 75th minute when McCarthy brought down Kevin Nolan in the area, gifting the Hammers a penalty that Mark Noble buried.

Noble quickly went from hero to villain as he received his marching orders for a second bookable offence less than five minutes later, and it was from his foul on McCarthy that Baines put away his second free kick of the afternoon to make it 2-2.

Everton's dramatic winner came five minutes from time when Lukaku leaped up high to meet a Mirallas cross and claim a debut goal as well as maximum points for the Blues.
