West Ham United manager David Moyes has confirmed that Jarrod Bowen is ruled out of Sunday's Premier League game against Aston Villa due to injury.
The 25-year-old was forced off in the second half of the Hammers' 1-0 defeat at Liverpool last weekend with a heel problem, and subsequently missed Thursday's Europa League loss against Sevilla.
West Ham revealed last week that Bowen has "suffered no significant damage" following an MRI scan, but Moyes has since told reporters that the forward will not be involved this weekend.
"We're just recovering and checking. I can't give you a complete answer. We've come through relatively unscathed. Jarrod isn't going to be available for the game but we hope he can make some improvement," Moyes said in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
When asked about whether Bowen's absence has been felt, the Scotsman added: "Of course, we're missing Jarrod. But we've only not had him for one game, against Sevilla.
"Did we miss him? Yes. But I think we coped without him last night. But we could do with his goals in the next months or so.
"It's a really difficult injury to diagnose but we hope we can get him closer to fitness".
It remains to be seen whether Bowen – who has 12 goals and 11 assists to his name in 39 appearances this season – will be fit to feature in the second leg of West Ham's Europa League last-16 tie against Sevilla at the London Stadium next Thursday. body check tags ::
