West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has revealed that the club have agreed a deal to sign Jonathan Calleri from Deportivo Maldonado.
The 22-year-old only joined the Uruguayan outfit earlier this year, but was immediately loaned out to Sao Paulo, where he scored 16 goals in 31 games.
The Argentine striker has been representing his country at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, but is now expected to complete the move in the coming days following Argentina's exit.
"We signed Calleri, unfortunately for him but good for us Argentina were knocked out of the Olympics last night, they didn't pass the group stage so he should be here with us - not today, not tomorrow, but pretty soon, depending on work permit or whatever," he told reporters.
"We did the deal not a long time ago but not yesterday, and he is a top striker as well. You need a squad, of course you need a squad but it is about the balance."
Calleri is set to become West Ham's sixth signing of the summer.
