West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has disclosed that the club will be doing everything possible to sign a top-quality striker.
Enner Valencia sustained a serious leg injury during his side's Europa League match against Astra Giurgiu and will be ruled out for the start of the season.
The Hammers have outlined their targets and were said to be interested in Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin, although Gold has only confirmed that his side are determined to bring a frontman to the club.
"We've lost [Enner] Valencia for the beginning of the season. We were already believing that we required another striker in the squad and we'll be doing everything in our power to bring in the best players we can," Gold told Sky Sports News.
Slaven Bilic's men face Astra Giurgiu in the second leg of their Europa League tie before they play Arsenal in their Premier League opener on August 9.
