West Ham United to make summer move for West Brom defender Jonny Evans?

West Ham United will reportedly make a summer move for Jonny Evans should West Bromwich Albion be relegated from the Premier League.

West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans has reportedly emerged as a summer transfer target for West Ham United.

During the last two windows, Arsenal and Manchester City have both been interested in the Northern Ireland international only to opt against meeting West Brom's asking price, which was allegedly in the region of £23m.

However, reports have previously suggested that Evans will be available for just £3m should the Baggies get relegated from the Premier League and according to The Mirror, West Ham have placed the centre-back on their shortlist for the summer.

The Hammers are also looking to secure their spot in the top flight for another 12 months, but Evans would likely become a top target should they remain out of the bottom three.

The East London outfit may require a replacement for James Collins, whose contract at the club expires in the summer, but David Moyes - should he stay at West Ham - will likely face stiff competition for Evans from elsewhere.

Thirty-year-old Evans has made 26 starts in all competitions during the current campaign.
