Wigan Athletic captain Gary Caldwell has highlighted Roberto Martinez's footballing principles as the reason for their Premier League survival.
The Latics have received many plaudits for their style of play as they beat Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Monday to relegate their hosts and guarantee themselves top-flight football next season.
The win was Wigan's sixth in their last eight matches, and Caldwell has praised Martinez for turning the club's fortunes around.
"When everyone else starts panicking and the whole world wants to tell you, 'you're going down' I think he's the one man who stays calm and stays true to his principles and plays good football," said Caldwell.
"That's all credit to him to get that through to the players and for us to carry that out.
"We've shown great belief in our system and our style of play and it has reaped rewards."
Wigan now sit 15th in the Premier League ahead of their final game of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
