Wigan Athletic manager Owen Coyle has revealed that he is pleased with his team's performance in Saturday's pre-season win over MLS side Columbus Crew.
James McCarthy and Marc-Antoine Fortune both scored as the Scot started his reign in charge of the Latics with a victory.
"The result was not the priority but it is still very nice to be able to come away with a win after just 10 days of pre-season work," Coyle told the club's official website.
"The players did exactly as they were instructed and showed professionalism, but also a real touch of quality for the goals. Now we need to build on that as we move towards August 3."
Wigan start their bid for promotion to the Premier League at Barnsley next month.
