Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez will reportedly fly to America this week to hold managerial talks with Liverpool owner John Henry.
It is understood that Martinez is the club's first choice to succeed Kenny Dalglish, and he will meet with club chiefs on Thursday to discuss the deal, according to The Mirror.
Liverpool bosses could also reportedly speak to former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas as they attempt to prepare for the new campaign.
The Reds finished the Premier League campaign in eighth position.
