Rafael Benitez has reportedly not been approached by his former club Liverpool with regards to taking over from Kenny Dalglish as manager.
The Merseyside club have been on the hunt for a new coach after sacking Dalglish last week, with the likes of Andre Villas-Boas, Roberto Martinez and Brendan Rodgers being linked with the position.
While Benitez seems to be a favourite among the supporters, it is understood that Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group, have not made contact with the 52-year-old.
"Rafa Benitez has not been approached by Liverpool and I believe there is no plan to do it for now," Spanish journalist Guillem Balague wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Ajax boss Frank de Boer has admitted that he is "honoured" to be considered by the Reds but has insisted that he will stay with the Dutch side.
