Bryan Ruiz's late penalty rescues a 3-3 draw for Fulham against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.

New Fulham manager Kit Symons saw his side rescue a 3-3 Championship draw against Wigan Athletic thanks to a late penalty at the DW Stadium.

Wigan took the lead through an Adam Forshaw penalty, after Callum McManaman had been brought down by Konstantinos Stafylidis in the Fulham box.

However, Fulham responded through Lasse Vigen Christensen, who neatly applied the finish to Scott Parker's through ball on the half-hour mark, and were ahead just six minutes later when Bryan Ruiz prodded home from close range after Ross McCormack's mazy run.

Uwe Rosler's side began the second half brightly and were level nine minutes after the restart when Roger Espinoza fired home from Leon Barnett's knock down.

Marc-Antoine Fortune found McManaman in space five minutes later, but the winger's shot from the left side of the Fulham box was saved by Marcus Bettinelli.

Fulham were reduced to 10 men when McCormack was given a second yellow card after a coming together with James McClean on 77 minutes, and Wigan took advantage just five minutes later when substitute Shaun Maloney curled home from just inside the box.

However, the game swung again when Barnett was sent off for hauling down former Latics star Hugo Rodallega in the box, and Ruiz sent Scott Carson the wrong way with the resulting penalty to rescue a point for Fulham.
