Antolín Alcaraz's second goal for Wigan Athletic helped Roberto Martinez's side on their way to all three points against Stoke City at the DW Stadium this afternoon.
In an opening half of very few chances, the best opportunity fell to Wigan winger Jean Beausejour, who was unable to convert from close range following a cross from Victor Moses.
Wigan continued to search for the first goal of the match after the restart and eventually broke the deadlock in the 54th minute. Beausejour crossed for Paraguayan international Alacarz and the defender took full advantage by converting from six yards out.
Beausejour had another chance to make the points safe late in the game, but he was unable to turn Ben Watson's cross into the net.
However, Moses did make the outcome certain in stoppage time when he rounded off a passing move.
