Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has hinted that he may add a defender to his squad during this month's transfer window.
The recent arrivals of Angelo Henriquez and Roger Espinoza were thought to be the only deals that Martinez had planned to conclude.
However, a knee injury suffered to centre-back Ivan Ramis could force the Spanish coach into entering the transfer market for a third time.
"We've brought two new faces in and we're trying to get one more," he told BBC Radio Manchester. "But the results of the scan on Ivan Ramis's knee may change things."
Martinez's team are currently 17th in the Premier League table.
