Hamburg have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Paul Scharner following the Austrian's departure from West Bromwich Albion.
Scharner has spent six years in English football with Wigan Athletic and West Brom but he decided against renewing his deal at the Hawthorns at the end of last season.
However, it appears that the 32-year-old has not been made to wait long to find his next club, with a successful medical all that's left to complete his move to Hamburg.
"Paul Scharner is just the type of player we are looking for," Hamburg manager Thorsten Fink told Kicker-Sportmagazin. "He is definitely not here just to top up the size of our squad, he is able to play an important role for us inside our first team."
Scharner made 185 appearances during his six years in England.
