Sports Mole previews Friday's Eredivisie clash between Willem II and Cambuur, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Round 16 of the 2021-22 Eredivisie season commences on Friday in Tilburg where Willem II play host to Cambuur.

Both sides head into the contest off the back of heavy defeats in their respective last outings and will be looking to bounce back in this one.

Match preview

Willem II suffered a sixth straight defeat across all competitions as they were beaten 5-0 by Ajax on Thursday.

A first-half brace from Antony either side of Lisandro Martinez's strike left Fred Grim's men with a mountain to climb before second-half goals from Davy Klaassen and Danilo put the result beyond doubt.

The Tricolores have slipped to 13th place in the Eredivisie table but still possess an eight-point lead over the relegation zone.

After an impressive start to the new campaign, Friday's hosts appear to have run out of steam and will need to rediscover their Midas touch in the coming weeks.

Cambuur saw their five-game winning streak come to an end following a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Vitesse on Saturday.

Braces from Lois Openda and Sondre Tronstad led the assault on Henk de Jong's men in a game where Marco Tol grabbed his side's only goal.

Consequently, the Yellow-Blues have dropped to seventh on the log, with a couple of teams in and around beginning to bear down on them.

Next up is a clash versus an opposing side who they have not beaten in any of the last six meetings between the teams within the last decade.

Team News

David Sambissa and Mees Hoedemakers are sidelined with injuries and will play no part in Friday's contest.

Mitchel Paulissen is also a doubt for the game after he was forced off with a knock in his side's last outing.

Willem II's Wesley Spieringhs and Freek Heerkens are still nursing knee injuries and will not be involved for this weekend's hosts

Robbin Ruiter will also sit the game out having not featured since August due to a shoulder problem.

Willem II possible starting lineup:
Wellenreuther; Owusu, Jenssen, Michelis, Kohn; Saglam, Saddiki, Llonch; Kohlert, Okyere Wriedt, Nunnely

Cambuur possible starting lineup:
Stevens; Schmidt, Mac-Intosch, Schouten, Bangura; Tol, Jacobs, Maulun, Doodeman, Kallon; Uldrikis

We say: Willem II 1-2 Cambuur

Both sides will feel they have what it takes to come out on top in this one, which should make for an exciting affair. We are backing the away team to narrowly carry the day at the end of the 90 minutes.
