Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has supported goalkeeper Carl Ikeme after the League One club were defeated by Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup on Tuesday evening.
Ikeme failed to gather a Jonson Clarke-Harris free kick which allowed Danny Philliskirk to open the scoring for the Latics, but Jackett has insisted that the Nigerian stopper has saved his side frequently throughout the first three-and-a-half months of the season.
The 51-year-old told the Express & Star: "My first impressions were that it wasn't a foul – I haven't seen it again but it just seemed to come off him, and I didn't appeal for it.
"It's not a criticism of Carl Ikeme there because he's had a very good season.
"If he made a mistake, then Carl has made many saves for us and has been very good."
Wolves are currently top of the League One table.
