Cardiff City have taken a 1-0 lead into half time against Wolverhampton Wanderers after a late header from Kenwyne Jones.
Wolves had an opportunity as early as the fourth minute when Sheyi Ojo pulled the ball back for David Edwards, but the midfielder could only direct his shot off target.
The remainder of the opening stages were scrappy, but Cardiff registered their first shot on target when Joe Mason tested Carl Ikeme, recalled in place of Emiliano Martinez, from a tight angle.
Back up the other end, Ojo set up Edwards again with the Welshman volleying wide, but Cardiff had a goal disallowed just before the half-hour mark when Joe Mason was adjudged to have kicked the ball out of the hands of Ikeme.
As the first half drew to a close, Ojo created another chance for Wolves, but Ethan Ebanks-Landell headed over the crossbar from inside the six-yard box.
It appeared as though the two teams would go into the break on level terms, but a minute before the interval, Jones got ahead of two defenders to glance the ball into an empty net, with Ikeme left stranded after attempting to come and punch the ball.
