Wolverhampton Wanderers dominated large parts of their opening half against Bolton Wanderers but they were unable to find the net at Molineux.
Struggling Wolves started the brighter of the two sides, but Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan was on hand to deny earlier efforts from front pair Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Steven Fletcher.
In their first real attack of the match, visiting Bolton went close to breaking the deadlock in the ninth minute. Wolves defender Richard Stearman squandered possession inside his own half but Bolton winger Martin Petrov failed to capitalise by shooting wide.
Wolves continued to search for the first goal of the match and went close to taking the lead in the 31st minute. Matt Jarvis crossed from the left for Fletcher, but the Scot's downward header was pushed wide for a corner by Bogdan.
Fletcher again went close moments later with a diving header, but loanee winger Ryo Miyaichi was on hand to clear off the line to keep the scores level at the break.
