Half-Time Report: Wolves hang on to go in level at the break

Wolverhampton Wanderers have had to defend well to deny Middlesbrough the lead before half time, but the home side have had chances of their own.

Middlesbrough will be wondering how they are not ahead after missing several chances in the first half against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The teams go in at 1-1 despite the ball hitting the home crossbar three times and Dorus de Vries making several good saves.

Wolves started somewhat nervously and after picking up a couple of early bookings, they almost conceded an own goal through Kaspars Gorkss.

A minute later, Grant Leadbitter's shot cannoned against the bar as Middlesbrough started to take control.

Against the run of play, the home side took the lead. After some great play on the left, Stephen Hunt crossed the ball and Boro's Stephen McManus headed into his own net.

They weren't ahead for long as Leadbitter again hit the bar, but this time the ball bounced down and, according to the referee, over the line for the equaliser.

The away side almost took the lead shortly after when Sylvan Ebanks-Blake's difficult volley went just over the bar. Boro then hit the bar for a third time as Mustapha Carayol saw his effort saved well by de Vries.

There was just time for Hunt to miss a good chance after being put through by Doherty before the teams went in level at the break.
