Wolverhampton Wanderers trail Huddersfield Town 2-0 at the break, despite a relatively evenly-matched first half at Molineux.
The home side came agonisingly close to opening the scoring, but captain Sam Ricketts saw his sixth-minute strike from 20 yards ping back off the upright.
Nouha Dicko then raced through on goal, but was denied by the legs of Alex Smithies as Wolves looked the better side in the opening quarter of the game.
However, Huddersfield took the lead against the run of play in the 21st minute when Harry Bunn volleyed home from Grant Holt's accurate right-wing cross.
Jacob Butterfield then saw his shot saved on the break, but Sean Scannell doubled the advantage of the visitors in the 39th minute with a deflected strike as Wolves trail by two goals at half time.
