Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Leo Bonatini says that he is "very happy" after grabbing the match winner against Middlesbrough at Molineux on Saturday.

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Leo Bonatini has revealed his delight at scoring the match winner on his debut for the club against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The 23-year-old - on loan from Saudi side Al-Hilal - capitalised on a mistake from Boro defender Daniel Ayala in the 33rd minute to help his side take all three points from their encounter with the promotion favourites at Molineux.

"I'm very happy to score on my debut, but I'm mainly happy because we won against a very strong opponent and we've got off to a good start," Bonatini told the Wolves website.

"I didn't expect to receive the ball from the defender, but mistakes can happen at any time and you have to be ready. I just tried to put the ball as far away from the goalkeeper as I could and I was very happy when I saw the ball go in.

"It's a great win and a great start, but now we know we need to improve on things as well. Having said that, we know Middlesbrough are a very difficult team to play against so we're very happy."

Next up for Wolves is a home tie with Yeovil Town in the first round of the EFL Cup tomorrow night ahead of a trip to Derby County in the league on Saturday.
