Kenny Jackett: 'We can use disappointment as motivation'

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett believes that his team can use the frustration of missing out on a Championship playoff place as motivation next season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett is hopeful that his side can use the disappointment of missing out on the Championship playoffs to spur them on to promotion next season.

The Midlands club missed out on a top-six place due to goal difference as Ipswich Town and Brentford beat them into the final playoff spots despite Wolves's 4-1 victory over Millwall on the final day.

However, Jackett is optimistic that his side can bounce back next season and earn promotion to the Premier League.

He told Sky Sports News: "Before the game we knew that getting into the top six looked possible, not probable. We needed quite a number of teams to slip up and we knew that it would be a long shot.

"But we had to keep our eye on the ball and win the game, and it was a good performance. I was very pleased with the players. Things didn't work out for us but we wanted to send the fans home optimistic for next year.

"We are disappointed not to have got one of the three promotion places and I am sure that we will analyse things and look back at November when we didn't get a point. But overall it will be a good season if we can build on it next year. Everyone has to be hungry enough to get better."

Wolves finished the season in seventh place in the table, collecting 78 points from their 46 matches.
