Mick McCarthy won't rule out Wolverhampton Wanderers return

Sacked manager Mick McCarthy will "never say never" regarding a possible return to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Mick McCarthy has refused to rule out a return to Premier League strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 53-year-old was sacked as manager of the Molineux club last month following the 5-1 loss at home to Black Country rivals West Bromwich Albion.

After 11 days of speculation, in which Wolves were publicly snubbed by Alan Curbishley and Walter Smith,
McCarthy's assistant Terry Connor was appointed as interim boss until the end of the season.

Since Connor's appointment, the club have claimed just one point out of a possible 15 and slumped to the bottom of the Premier League table.

The poor form has lead to rumours that club owner Steve Morgan may again change management personnel before the end of the season.

While he was keen to stress that a return was unlikely, McCarthy would not rule it out.

He told TalkSPORT: "I would never say never, that is all I can say. Stranger things have happened. Carlos Tevez played for Manchester City on Saturday.

"But I think that is a challenge for somebody else, I have done my time.

"I would never say never and some day it may happen but I don't think that is going to be the case now and I am looking forward to a fresh challenge as well."

In an interview with Sports Mole, Wolves winger Matt Jarvis admitted that he and his teammates must shoulder some responsibility for McCarthy's dismissal.
