Rotherham United play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon looking to register their third successive win, a result that may be good enough to help the club move out of the relegation zone.

As for Wolves, Kenny Jackett takes his side to the New York Stadium having failed to record a win in four games, and defeat this weekend would leave their opponents just three points behind them in the table.

When Rotherham suffered a 5-2 defeat at home to Ipswich Town to take Neil Redfearn's start to life at the Millers to one point from six games, it was inevitable that concerns would emerge over whether the correct appointment had been made.

However, after back-to-back victories against Leeds United and Bristol City respectively, and with the club now within a point of safety, Redfearn can begin to look forward as he tries to build on the foundations that outgoing boss Steve Evans had left before his departure to Leeds.

Winning at Elland Road would have been sweet for Redfearn for a number of reasons, but rather than focusing on getting one over his former employers, it would have been more about setting the wheels in motion to try to achieve what would be considered another unlikely survival in the second tier of English football.

While beating Leeds would have meant more to the supporters, overcoming Bristol City in convincing fashion was the first time since September 26 that the team had won by two clear goals, while it also represented just their fourth clean sheet of the season.

It was also the first time that Rotherham had netted in the first half of a fixture in nine attempts, a record that undoubtedly must improve if they are going to retain their Championship status. With a below-par Wolves in their way on Saturday, though, Redfearn will be confident that the result will come, whether that is during the early or latter stages.

Despite losing just once in their last five matches, Wolves head coach Jackett has acknowledged that results must improve sooner rather than later if his team are going to hold any realistic hopes of finishing in the top six at the end of the season.

The victory over Huddersfield Town in the middle of October would have raised expectations at Molineux, but since that afternoon, Wolves have only posted six points from eight outings, a run of form that has left them closer to the relegation zone than the playoffs.

Wolves have time on their side but they will not improve unless they find the back of the net with more regularity. Just five goals have been scored in seven matches, four of which saw the Black Country side fail to score, and it is a problem that was further highlighted by their failure to take any of their chances against MK Dons last weekend.

The goalless draw made it three stalemates on the bounce, and it left the club further away from their targets. Wolves are also reeling from a departure at the other end of the pitch, with defender Mike Williamson having returned to Newcastle United after an impressive loan spell.

His exit is a further blow to a team who could see their fortunes change with a much-needed win, but if they cannot avoid defeat against their resurgent opponents this weekend, the pressure on the head coach and players will only intensify ahead of two huge home matches against Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

Former Reading player Stephen Kelly, who joined Rotherham a couple of weeks ago, is suffering from a calf strain, but he could still feature after Redfearn revealed that the issue was better than first feared.

The Millers boss also said that several members of his team were suffering from knocks, but still expected each of them to play at the weekend.

As for Wolves, Jackett is still without Emiliano Martinez as the on-loan Arsenal goalkeeper continues to recover from a problem with his quadriceps.

Jackett will be forced to make an alteration in defence with Williamson having returned to the North-East, so Dominic Iorfa could partner Danny Batth in the centre.

Wolves dominate the head-to-head record between the two sides, with the West Midlands team winning 13 of the previous 26 meetings compared to five victories for Rotherham.

Just four matches have been played since 2008, though, with the home team always coming out on top apart from a 3-3 draw in Yorkshire at the end of 2013.

Last year's match ended in a 1-0 win for Rotherham, with Ryan Hall getting the winner in the closing stages.
