Wolverhampton Wanderers have condemned racist comments allegedly made by their striker Leigh Griffiths on Twitter.
An unofficial Twitter account under Griffiths's name, which has over 12,000 followers, sent the message "f*** off back to your own country ya clown" to user @Zak_Iqbal.
Wolves confirmed that any discipline handed out would be by Hibernian, the club he is currently on loan at, but insisted that they would make their feelings known to the SPL side.
"Wolves are aware of an alleged racist comment made on Twitter last night by Leigh Griffiths. The club condemns such comments in the strongest possible terms and are extremely angry and disappointed," read a club statement.
"The player is currently on loan at Hibernian FC and is likely to remain there for the rest of the season. He is, therefore, subject to the disciplinary procedures of Hibernian FC and those of the Scottish Football Association.
"However, Wolves are in dialogue with Hibernian and are making their feelings known on the matter."
Griffiths has played just once for Wolves in all competitions, but has scored 25 goals in 58 matches during two loan spells at Hibernian.
