Terry Connor: 'Penalty changed the game'

Terry Connor bemoans the referee's decision to hand Bolton Wanderers a penalty against Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier today.

Wolverhampton Wanderers interim manager Terry Connor believes that the referee's decision to award Bolton Wanderers a penalty this afternoon cost his side the chance of winning the match between the two struggling sides.

Hosting Wolves were leading 1-0 when referee Jonathan Moss blew for a penalty when Roger Johnson was adjudged to have fouled Mark Davies inside the area.

Martin Petrov went on two dispatch the subsequent penalty and Bolton ended the fixture as 3-2 victors.

Reflecting on the decision, Connor is adamant that Moss came to the wrong conclusion.

"I've only just seen it back once," Connor told Sky Sports News. "I didn't think it was a penalty and obviously there will be plenty of angles and plenty of things shown, but it was a big call by the referee at a very important time of the game.

"I wasn't sure it was a penalty and the players felt the same. It didn't look as if there was a massive appeal from the Bolton players as well. It was a big call from the referee and it had a big bearing on the game.

"It's very, very hard [to take]. I'm very disappointed with the result today. I thought that if not the win, then we would take something from the game."

Wolves are bottom of the Premier League table, six points from safety.
