Wolverhampton Wanderers earned a hard-fought friendly win over Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground tonight, thanks to a second-half strike from Leigh Griffiths.
Wrexham started brightly and broke the deadlock after 11 minutes through Jay Harris, who connected with a clever free kick from Kevin Thornton to beat returning Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.
Harris smashed just over the bar from close range soon after, with Bakary Sako testing Joslain Mayebi before the break at the other end.
Early in the second half Wolves equalised through Jake Cassidy, who met a swift cross by Griffiths to find the net from six yards.
Soon after Wolves went ahead thanks to a fine run and finish from Griffiths, who drove down the left flank before slotting into the far corner.
Kenny Jackett's side held firm in the closing stages to record the victory, with Wrexham emerging from the pre-season workout full of positives despite the narrow defeat.
