Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham City finish level following a goalless match at Molineux in the Championship.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham City have shared the points after playing to a goalless draw in their Championship match at Molienux this afternoon.

Wolves had the better of the chances at the start of the first half, with Leon Clarke having a shot deflected behind before Liam McAlinden saw an effort stopped by Darren Randolph.

The visitors started to see more of the ball as the half progressed, resulting in Koby Arthur trying to slice the ball in from close range, only to find the side-netting.

Clayton Donaldson had one of the best chances of the first half when David Davis picked him out with a through-ball, but his finish was a fraction wide.

After a quiet start to the second half, it was Birmingham who came closest to taking the lead when Jonathan Grounds tried to head in from a David Cotterill corner, but Carl Ikeme made the save.

Paul Robinson and Donaldson both tried to fire home from the rebound, but the Wolves keeper eventually managed to claim it to keep the hosts level.

Wolves started to look threatening again after the hour mark, resulting in Dave Edwards trying to head in from close range, but he could not get the better of Randolph.

Edwards was involved again shortly after as he unleashed an effort from the left-hand side of the box, only to see his effort strike the crossbar.

The hosts looked the more likely in the final minutes as they pushed for a late winner, but Yannick Sagbo fired high before James Henry had an effort saved and Bakary Sako smashed the rebound over.

The result moves Wolves a point clear at the point of the table, while Birmingham sit 22nd.
