Feyenoord are allegedly interested in adding a second Wolverhampton Wanderers player to their squad before the end of the summer transfer window.

Feyenoord are allegedly interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Boubacar Traore before the end of the summer transfer window.

Aside from the three additions that they made early in the off-season, Wolves fans have been left frustrated by the lack of further incomings.

That has occurred when £90m has been generated from the sales of Max Kilman and Pedro Neto, as well as other players departing for pastures new.

One of those players is Hugo Bueno who has been given the opportunity to play Eredivisie and Champions League football with Feyenoord on a season-long loan deal.

Although the left-back missed out against Sparta Rotterdam at the weekend, he impressed on his debut in providing an assist in a 5-1 win at PEC Zwolle a week earlier.

Across the campaign, Wolves are confident that the Spaniard will receive enough game time to return to Molineux and challenge for a regular starting spot.

Traore to follow Bueno to Rotterdam?

According to Voetbal International, Feyenoord now possess an interest in adding Traore to their ranks.

During the back end of 2023-24, there was an argument that the Mali international was one of Wolves' best players as he was provided with regular minutes by Gary O'Neil.

However, having spent time with his nation's Under-23 side at the Olympics, Traore is now behind the rest of the other midfield contingent.

Whether that remains the case in the long term remains to be seen, yet it is plausible that O'Neil sees Mario Lemina, Joao Gomes, Tommy Doyle and Jean-Ricner Bellegrade ahead of him in the pecking order.

With three years remaining on his contract, Wolves are in no rush to sell Traore, but it is plausible to believe that they may consider taking a similar approach to the one involving Bueno.

What will O'Neil's opinion be?

In two seasons at Wolves, Traore has only made 11 starts in the Premier League, a further 23 coming in other competitions.

That is naturally something to consider for the likes of O'Neil and sporting director Matt Hobbs, who may be willing to find an upgrade even if it is only in the short term.

Wolves' 6-2 defeat at home to Chelsea on Sunday exposed that they need strengthening at the back, yet another defensive-minded central midfielder will also come into consideration.

From Feyenoord's perspective, they have already dropped four points from three Eredivisie games and may benefit from the addition of another combative midfielder. body check tags ::
