Wolverhampton Wanderers have allegedly emerged as a potential destination for Napoli winger Hirving Lozano.
The 27-year-old is currently nearing the end of his fourth season in Naples, one which will conclude with his club ending their 33-year wait to win another Serie A title.
Although other players have spent more time making headlines, Lozano has still made 18 starts and 11 substitute outings in Italy's top flight during 2022-23.
However, Lozano has reached the stage of his contract where he has just over 14 months left on his existing terms, with a new deal looking increasingly unlikely.
That would leave Napoli in a position where they would likely look to cash in on the Mexico international in order to reinvest funds in other players.
Despite only contributing four goals and four assists in Serie A and the Champions League this campaign, Lozano will not be short of offers should he become available for transfer.
According to TV Azteca, Wolves are a realistic next move for the playmaker during the summer window.
The report claims that the player's representatives hold a strong working relationship with the West Midlands outfit, something which can only help negotiations.
From a business perspective, Wolves also have an interest in the Mexican market due to the successful stint of Raul Jimenez since 2018.
Jimenez is now only on the periphery on the Wolves squad, though, and it is plausible that he will depart Molineux now that he is close to entering the final year of his contract.
While signing Lozano would extend their foothold in the Mexican market, it would also represent a huge coup for Wolves as they bid to build a squad capable of challenging for European qualification.
That is dependent on avoiding relegation from the Premier League, Wolves currently defending an eight-point advantage over the bottom three with five matches remaining.
At a time when Wolves are being linked with Lozano, Napoli has been credited with an interest in Adama Traore, who could leave Wolves on a free transfer at the end of June. body check tags ::
