Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly knocked back an approach for Dion Sanderson by Newcastle United.
The 21-year-old spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan at the Magpies' arch-rivals Sunderland, where he started 19 League One games and scored one goal during a short but successful stint.
Sanderson's performances have supposedly attracted the interest of a number of Premier League sides, with Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and now-Championship club Sheffield United all credited with an interest.
According to The Athletic, Newcastle tabled an offer of £1m for the young defender, but Wolves have swiftly rejected the approach for a player who is due to become a free agent next year.
The report adds that Sanderson has also rebuffed Wolves' attempts to tie him down to a new deal, but the West Midlands club remain confident that he will commit his future to the club before another loan spell next year.
Sanderson made his debut for the Wolves first team during their EFL Cup defeat to Aston Villa in October 2019. body check tags ::
