Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore has admitted that he would like to return to La Liga.
Since leaving Barcelona for Aston Villa in August 2015, Traore has spent the bulk of that period representing English clubs.
However, the former La Masia academy graduate got his wish earlier this year as he secure a second stint at Camp Nou, albeit on a temporary basis.
Although the 26-year-old chipped in with four assists from 17 outings in all competitions, Barcelona opted against taking up their option to push through a permanent deal.
With less than a year remaining on his contract, Traore is now expected to complete the 2022-23 campaign at Molineux, Wolves now not in a position to generate their desired transfer fee for the Spain international.
While the club's hierarchy will almost certainly make a final effort to tempt Traore into extending his stay in the West Midlands, the attacker has suggested that he intends to return to his homeland in 2023.
Speaking to Cadena SER and AS, as quoted by AS, Traore said: "Spain is the country that I love and where I was born. It is very clear, but everything in its time.
"I returned to Barcelona for a few months because it is a decision I made, I had other options but I went back there and helped and I will surely return.
"I don't know where, but I'm sure I'll be back one day. Right now I am focused on the season and continue to grow."
Having sustained an injury during pre-season, Traore has had to remain patient to earn regular minutes for Wolves this season, initially under Bruno Lage.
Traore was in a position to step up his progress after the international break and has since accumulated 281 minutes across the last four Premier League matches.
As well as helping earn a match-winning penalty against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Traore scored a header during the 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace on Tuesday evening.
Caretaker boss Steve Davis acknowledged that Traore's withdrawal before the hour mark was to protect a minor issue, the intention to manage his minutes ahead of the showdown with Leicester City on Sunday. body check tags ::
