Half-Time Report: Wrexham being held by Bristol Rovers

Wrexham have midfielder Rob Evans sent off as they enter the break at 0-0 in their Conference Premier fixture with Bristol Rovers.

Midfielder Rob Evans has been sent off for Wrexham as the Welsh side go into half time against Bristol Rovers without the deadlock being broken at the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham registered their first win in nine on Saturday and they built on the momentum generated from that game by dominating the early stages against a Rovers side that are unbeaten in their last six fixtures.

Joe Clarke and Mark Carrington both fired wide inside the first 15 minutes, before Andy Bishop's volley was tipped over the crossbar by Steve Mildenhall.

The pressure continued to come from the home side and Evans was unfortunate to clip the crossbar with a powerful effort from 30 yards.

Bishop had another opportunity with a header but after that was comfortably held by Mildenhall, Rovers finally showed some ambition in the final third with Nathan Blissett heading over from close range.

As the half neared a close, a clearance from Mildenhall was charged down by Carrington but the veteran stopper managed to redeem himself by saving from Bishop.

However, it came at a cost as Mildenhall suffered a knock, and with no replacement goalkeeper on the substitutes' bench, defender Mark McChrystal stepped in to try to keep Wrexham out for the remaining 50 minutes of the contest.

There was further drama to follow as Wrexham went down to 10 men during the seven minutes of added-on time. Evans won the ball in midfield with two strong challenges, but the referee deemed that it was dangerous play and promptly dismissed the midfielder.
