Stockport County and Wrexham have each secured promotion to League One with victories on Saturday afternoon.
The two teams went into their respective games with Morecambe and Forest Green Rovers knowing that third-placed Mansfield Town could do them each a favour against MK Dons, who are fourth.
Both sides subsequently took care of their own business, leaders Stockport scoring twice in the first half versus Morecambe through Isaac Olaofe and Fraser Horsfall.
Dave Challinor's outfit came through the second half unscathed to guarantee that they would remain clear at the top of the standings, regardless of Wrexham's result versus Forest Green.
That aforementioned margin stays at four points with Wrexham having thrashed their bottom-placed opponents by a 6-0 scoreline at SToK Cae Ras.
Wrexham were four goals to the good at the break, with Elliot Lee opening the scoring before Paul Mullin netted twice either side of a Ryan Inniss own goal.
Phil Parkinson watched Ryan Barnett and Jack Marriott get on the scoresheet after the break to complete the win at the same time that Mansfield were beating MK Dons.
Although MK Dons did take the lead in the 13th minute, Mansfield were winning 2-1 by the 51st minute before two further strikes during the latter stages put them a win away from guaranteeing their own promotion to the third tier.
Stockport are back in League One for the first time since 2010, while Wrexham have secured back-to-back promotions after winning the National League just a year ago. body check tags ::
