Wycombe Wanderers could be heading for their first win of 2014.
The League Two strugglers lead top-of-the-table Chesterfield 1-0 at half time, thanks to a 35th-minute penalty from Max Kretzschmar.
Kretzschmar drilled his spot kick down the middle of the goal after Matt McClure's cross had struck the hand of Spireites captain Ian Evatt.
Wycombe's goal came from the game's first shot on target.
Chesterfield manager Paul Cook has been far from impressed with his side's display so far, and his frustrations led to him being sent to the stands in stoppage time.
Cook's team will have to perform very well to turn this game around in the second half. Despite Wycombe's lowly league position, the Chairboys have only conceded three goals in their last four matches.
