Wycombe Wanderers held Premier League outfit Aston Villa to a 2-2 draw in a pre-season clash at Adams Park on Saturday.
Villa boss Paul Lambert named a strong team for the clash, with Brad Guzan, Ron Vlaar, Matthew Lowton and Ciaran Clark all selected from the start.
However, it was the home side that took the lead with 11 minutes on the clock when Martin McCoy caught Guzan off his line with a powerful effort from the right.
Villa were level 15 minutes later when Lowton met a deep cross from Leandro Bacuna before planting a well-placed header into the back of the net.
Despite Villa's pressure, Wycombe were back ahead in the latter stages of the half when Leon Johnson rose in the box before converting a Matt Spring corner from close range.
It was the Premier League outfit that dominated the early stages of the second period, however, with an Ashley Westwood free kick levelling the score at 2-2 after 52 minutes.
The tempo of the match dropped in the latter stages with the home side making changes, while Lambert changed his entire team with little over an hour remaining.
Johnson came close to adding a third for the League Two outfit with 10 minutes remaining, but the defender could only fire wide from close range as the points were shared.
