Ferrari racer Fernando Alonso has revealed that finishing second in the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday felt like a victory.
The Spaniard, who started sixth on the grid in Montreal, engaged in a number of battles throughout the race, most notably when he overtook Lewis Hamilton into his finishing position on lap 63.
The 31-year-old admits that he thoroughly enjoys thrilling fights for places like the one he shared with the Mercedes driver.
"It was nice to have some battles in the race with some talented and intelligent drivers where you could fight wheel to wheel at 200mph and still feel safe," Alonso told The Sun.
"It can go either way but it is real racing. It was a difficult race but the second place tastes like a victory."
Alonso remains second in the Drivers' Rankings.
