Ferrari boss Marco Mattiaci earmarks several areas for improvement after a poor start to the season, according to reports.

Ferrari's new team boss Marco Mattiacci has reportedly highlighted several areas where the team are falling short in their 2014 Formula 1 campaign.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the new principal of the Scuderia, who took over from Stefano Domenicali earlier this season, has been busy reviewing how the team try to build winning cars.

In his review, he identified that Ferrari were producing inferior hybrid technology to current leaders Mercedes, who have invested significant amounts of money in this area, which has led to their dominance in the current campaign.

The report also claims that slow reponse times between departments and a lack of co-ordination have hindered the Italian team's quest for Grand Prix victories.

Ferrari achieved their best result of the season last weekend, when Fernando Alonso finished second at the Hungarian GP, behind Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo.
