Force India team principal Vijay Mallya has revealed that Sergio Perez will be remaining with the team for the 2015 Formula 1 season.
The Mexican driver joined the Silverstone-based constructors ahead of the start of the current campaign, with an option in his contract to remain at the team for a second season.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix, Mallya told Sky Sports News: "I have a two-year contract with Sergio. I exercised the option and it is all over, so as far I'm concerned it's job done.
"But we are talking about one additional year, and therefore is the whole point of negotiation. Simple and straightforward.
"The possibility came of extending [Perez's] contract for 2016 as well, and that is what is under negotiation."
Perez, who has previously stated that he is keen to remain with the team, ended their five-year drought for a podium finish at the Bahrain Grand Prix in April.
