F1 eyeing 24-race calendars in future - Carey

There is still room on future Formula 1 calendars for more than the unprecedented 23 races that have been scheduled for 2021.

That is the news from Chase Carey, who said in an investors teleconference that he feels "very good" about his relationship with current and future race promoters.

"Many places where we have raced this year have expressed great interest in new races, and other countries are more interested than ever," said the F1 CEO.

"We hope to move to a calendar of 24 races in the coming years, and we will probably rotate some races so that we can accommodate some new partners.

"But they will be limited, as long-term partnerships remain our priority," added Carey.

The American, who is handing over to Stefano Domenicali for 2021, also said Formula 1 hopes to bring the Paddock Club back to covid-affected F1 next year.

"We are planning for events with fans in 2021 that provide a close to normal experience," he said.

Massa hopes Schumacher 'can see his son in F1'

Felipe Massa hopes it is true that his former Ferrari teammate Michael Schumacher is able to follow the likely F1 debut of his son Mick next year.

Their former team boss Jean Todt said this week that he sees Schumacher up to twice per month, amid public rumours that the seven time world champion remains in a vegetative state.

"Of course he is following him," Todt, now the FIA president, told RTL France when asked if Schumacher, 51, is able to follow 21-year-old Mick's F1 career.

Massa, who is managed by Todt's son Nicolas, told AS newspaper: "Mick started with problems, not getting the results he wanted but at a certain point he began to win.

"I think he is going to win Formula 2 this year and be in Formula 1 next year with Haas," Brazilian Massa added. "It's going to be amazing to see another Schumacher in F1. I hope Michael can see his son in F1.

"It's always a dream for a father for their son to come into Formula 1 and I really hope he can feel it, improve and be able to see his son in F1."
