Hello and welcome to Sports Mole's live text commentary of the qualifying session for tomorrow's Italian Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton has set the quickest time in the final practice session and will be looking to clinch his fourth pole of the season at Monza.

He came in just 0.001 second faster than Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, who leads Sebastien Vettel in the drivers' championship by 24 points.

Vettel led from pole position to win least year's race, ahead of Jenson Button and Alonso.

2.08pmThat's all from the qualifying session. Join us from 12.30pm tomorrow for all the action from Monza!

2.07pmSo despite all of the contract talk this week, Hamilton delivers in qualifying to land his fourth pole of the season. He will be looking for his third win tomorrow.

2.05pmIt hasn't been a good qualifying session for Alonso by any stretch of the imagination. Massa gets himself into third, which may be of some consolation for Ferrari. Di Resta will start in fourth, but it was nearly so much better.

2.03pmThe top ten reads: Hamilton, Button, Massa, Di Resta, Schumacher, Vettel, Rosberg, Raikkonen, Kobayashi, Alonso.

Q3Alonso can only manage 10th!

Q3Wow! Exciting finish! Massa took second from Di Resta, but is denied by Button! It's a front-row lockout for McLaren!

Q3Rosberg finishes and will take sixth at least. Alonso is struggling!

Q3Paul Di Resta gets himself into second with a fantastic lap in the Force India.

Q3Raikkonen goes sixth and looks off the pace. Both Ferraris are back out.

Q3Rosberg goes fourth, but is quickly overtaken by Schumacher.

Q3Hamilton goes fastest, ahead of Massa, Button, Vettel and Alonso. Both Ferraris are back in the pits.

Q3Q3 is now underway and both Ferrari's are out first.

1.49pmIt's the third time in as many races - and second for Webber - that Red Bull have lost a driver in Q2.

1.45pmWebber, Maldonado, Perez, Senna, Ricciardo, D'Ambrosio and Vergne all drop out at Q2.

Q2Maldonado can't keep hold of his top-10 place and also drops out at Q2.

Q2Webber has been knoked out!

Q2Webber looks all but out as Vettel scrapes into the top 10.

Q2Kobayashi gets himself into the top 10, pushing Vettel into 11th.

Q2Perez and Maldonado are duking it out for a place in the top 10. The COlombian is winning the battle at the moment.

Q2Webber is back out with just over four minutes of Q2 remaining.

Q2Senna, Perez, Webber, Kobayashi, D'Ambrosio, Ricciardo and Vergen occupy the bottom seven.

Q2Vettel is struggling in ninth position.

Q2Perez takes the final turn a tad wide and it costs him a bit of time. He is in 10th, just above the drop zone.

Q2Button goes second fastest, while Massa, Di Resta and Schumacher follow.

Q2Alonso sets 1.23.242 to go fastest once again.

Q2Paul Di Resta and Kimi Raikkonen are first out.

1.27pmQ2 is about to get underway.

1.22pmQ1 is over. Nico Hulkenberg is arguably the biggest name knocked out. Kovalainen, Petrov, Glock, Pic, Karthikeyan and De La Rosa will join him at the back of the grid tomorrow.

Q1Just one minute remaining for Kovalainen to get himself into Q2. Petrov, Glock, Pic, Karthikeyan and De La Rosa are currently in line to join Hulkenberg on the Q1 casualty list.

Q1D'Ambrosio posts 1.25.103 to put Kovalainen in 18th and in danger.

Q1Button goes third. Webber is still out on the track, but he is struggling in 14th place.

Q1Hamilton has now overtaken Rosberg into 2nd. The German is in the pit lanes, happy with his time.

Q1Hulkenberg has indeed been knocked out of Q1.

Q1D'Ambrosio, Petrov, Glock, Karthikeyan, De La Rosa and Pic are all currently in the Q1 drop zone.

Q1Hamilton has launched himself into third, behind Alonso and Rosberg.

Q1It looks like Hulkenberg's session may be over. The gears in his Force India have failed him.

Q1Alonso has just set a new fastest time at 1.24.540.

Q1Schumacher is second behind his teammate. Di Resta, Perez and Ricciardo follow...

Q1Nico Hulkenberg has left the track after overdoing turn one and he has a problem with his car. Meanwhile, Nico Rosberg is currently the fastest.

Q1Jerome D'Ambrosio is also out on the track in his first qualifying session since the Brazilian Grand Prix last year.

Q1We're underway in Q1 and Daniel Ricciardo is the first out onto the track.

12.56pmThe sun is shining at Monza. It looks like a glorious day for some Formula 1 racing!

12.50pmVettel and Hamilton lead the way in terms of pole positions so far this season with three apiece. Alonso is on two, while Mark Webber, Pastor Maldonado, Nico Rosberg and Jenson Button all have one.

12.47pmHalf of this season's races have ended with the man on pole position taking the checkered flag - including the last three in a row.

12.44pmLewis Hamilton set the quickest time in the final practice this morning, ahead of what should be an eagerly-contested qualifying session.

12.43pmWe're just under 20 minutes to the start of the qualifying session.
