Formula 1 was back on our screens this weekend as the world's best drivers descended on Melbourne for the opening race of the season.

Naturally, a driver's career forces them to spend a lot of their time on the road (pardon the pun) and as a result the pit lanes are not only filled with team principals and mechanics, but often the wives and girlfriends are also present throughout the racing calender.

While Lewis Hamilton may be dating the most famous WAG in former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, Sports Mole has opted to profile the other half of Sunday's race winner Jenson Button.

Jessica Michibata is a Japanese model who has been in a relationship with McLaren's Button for around three years now, having been introduced by mutual friends.

Michibata, 27, was born to a Japanese mother and an Argentine father of Spanish-Italian ancestry.

It was her connections with Japan that made her first aware of Button, who is hugely popular in the Far East following his six-year stint driving for Honda on the Formula 1 circuit.

There are many in Japan that believe she has become a good luck charm for the 32-year-old driver, who claimed the world championship in 2009.

Away from the track, Michibata, liker her two sisters, is a fashion model. She has worked for numerous companies, including Reebok, Uniqlo, Evian, Seiko and Peach John.

She has also tried her hand at television work in Japan, appearing in adverts, films and music videos.

Back in 2009, Button claimed that he would propose should he win the world title. Despite his personal success, the Frome-born driver failed to get down on one knee.

Will Button keep his good lady waiting if 2012 proves to be another trophy-winning year?
