Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he will change his plan for the final practice session at the British Grand Prix after suffering a mechanical failure this afternoon.
The Briton finished the second practice with the fastest lap time, but missed the final part of the session when his Mercedes came to a halt at the end of the pit lane, leaving him without any race simulation laps.
The 2008 world champion told Sky Sports News: "I lost the long-run part of the session and so lost 20 or so laps of finding out how the car feels on heavy fuel loads.
"But I can change around and compromise some of my running tomorrow and get in a long run.
"I don't know about overheating, whether it's the front or rears, where I need to put the brake settings for the race, the diff settings, but I'm a professional, I'll do it."
Hamilton has finished on the podium at his home race three times during his F1 career, winning at Silverstone in 2008.
