Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton will start in pole position for Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix.

Hamilton came out on top in a final qualifying session where all 10 drivers in Q3 attempted to record just one flying lap, and the former world champion edged out Kimi Raikkonen into second place.

Fernando Alonso was third for Ferrari, while Hamilton's teammate Nico Rosberg qualified in fourth position.

Felipe Massa will start in fifth for Ferrari, while Jenson Button recorded the eighth-fastest time, despite finishing over half a minute slower than Hamilton.

That was a result of Sebastian Vettel and Nico Hulkenberg failing to record a lap in Q3, and they will start in ninth and 10th respectively.

Force India's Paul di Resta just missed out on Q3 and will start Sunday's race in 11th, while Max Chilton finished in 20th position.
