Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has finished fourth in qualifying ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix following an error-strewn session in Shanghai.
The reigning world champion struggled throughout, running wide at a number of corners and spinning 540 degrees on the exit of Turn 10.
Hamilton continued but was unable to get within a second of Sebastian Vettel, who headed a Ferrari one-two.
Kimi Raikkonen finished second, narrowly in front of Hamilton's Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas, while Red Bull duo Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo - who suffered a major engine failure - came fifth and sixth respectively.
McLaren's struggles continued, meanwhile, as Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne could only finish 12th and 13th, a week on from an emergency debrief after a disappointing showing in qualifying in Bahrain.
