Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has won the inaugural European Grand Prix in Baku, while teammate Lewis Hamilton finished down in fifth position in Azerbaijan.
Hamilton's qualifying session ended with a crash, a suspended suspension and a position of 10th on the grid, and the current world champion could not close the gap as he finished fifth. As a result, he falls 24 points behind Rosberg in the standings.
Rosberg, who finished first by 16.7 seconds, has collected his 19th grand prix victory, with Sebastian Vettel in second and Sergio Perez taking third to complete the podium on what was a scorching afternoon in Baku.
Hamilton was handicapped by inconsistent power deployment, and a ban on radio messages prevented the Brit's crew from offering advice on a fix as the 31-year-old endured a frustrating race.
McLaren driver Jenson Button finished the final qualifying session on Saturday down in 19th position, but only just missed out on a spot in the top 10, finishing one spot above Williams driver Felipe Messa.
