Lewis Hamilton edged out Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg to come out on top in first practice at the Monaco Grand Prix this morning.
The reigning world champion finished 0.101s quicker than the German, while Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari and Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo took third and fourth respectively.
Hamilton was in top form as he built up a near two-second lead over Rosberg in the opening 30 minutes of the session, but he made a couple of errors without causing any real damage.
The incident-packed session also saw Rosberg suffer a puncture when dislodging a drain cover, in turn causing Jenson Button's front wing to shatter, while both Jolyon Palmer and Felipe Massa crashed early on.
