Lewis Hamilton pays tribute to the Mercedes team after their victory in the constructors' championship, describing his time there as the 'best years of his life'.

Lewis Hamilton has described his two years racing for Mercedes as the 'best of his life' following their success in the constructors' championship at the weekend.

Mercedes clinched their first ever team title with their ninth one-two of the season in the inaugural Russian Grand Prix, leaving them just one short of the all-time record, currently held by McLaren.

Hamilton left McLaren for Mercedes in 2013 and stretched his lead at the top of the drivers' championship with his ninth race win of the campaign on Sunday, and he was quick to pay tribute to his team.

"What an incredible feeling it is to be stood in front of all these incredible people. You almost have to take a step back and just think about what we've achieved together," Hamilton told the Mercedes workforce.

"I know it's been a long road and many of the team have had to work through tough times to lay the foundations for what we're seeing today, and I'm incredibly grateful for all of their hard work.

"These past two years have been the best of my life - and that's all down to everybody standing here. The effort and the synergy here is unlike anything I've ever seen and I'm excited for the future."

Hamilton is currently 17 points clear of teammate Nico Rosberg in the drivers' standings, having won four consecutive races.
