Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has claimed that the broadcasting deal with Sky for the 2012 season will be good for the sport.

Ecclestone reached a deal with Sky and the BBC under which Sky will broadcast live coverage of every race next season while the BBC will carry 50% of races.

The deal has caused anger among some F1 supporters as Grand Prix racing has always previously been shown on free-to-air television. However, Ecclestone believes that the move is a positive one.

"It's good for Formula One," Ecclestone told Autosport.com. "For sure there are going to be a lot more people viewing, and a lot more opportunities for people to view, so from that point of view I'm very happy."

Meanwhile, Sky have confirmed that they will only show adverts during pre-race and post-race coverage.
