Max Verstappen is bracing for another challenging race for Red Bull at the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix.

As competitors like Ferrari and McLaren close the gap on the previously totally dominant world champions this year, the shortcomings of the 2024 Red Bull car on uneven circuits with large kerbs, such as Monaco, have become increasingly apparent.

"We just have to wait and see," the triple world champion and current leader in the 2024 championship, Verstappen, remarked concerning the upcoming Montreal event.

"I think there is a new surface there too, so that could cause some extra surprises," the Dutch driver noted.

"It will probably not be our best weekend there either, although it will probably be a bit better than Monaco. Hopefully we will soon have more insight into where we are making mistakes."

Over the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, it was evident that Red Bull was facing significant challenges, leading Verstappen's father, Jos, to speculate if the ongoing internal disputes and controversies were impacting the team's performance.

"Maybe they should start focusing a bit more on racing and mutual communication again, rather than on other things," he suggested.

Max, however, appears less overtly worried.

"I think we take everything very seriously," said the 26-year-old. "But sometimes things are not very easy to fix. We are working hard on it."

"I think it's more the pace of the car that we need to focus on," Verstappen further explained. "We simply didn't deserve to be up there in Monaco."

Even team principal Christian Horner is puzzled by the root of the issues at Red Bull.

"Before we react, we first have to understand the problems," he stated according to Auto Motor und Sport. "It's strange that Toro Rosso (RB) doesn't have these problems with our old suspension."
