Sergio Perez has praised the performance of his Sauber team following his second place finish at the Malaysian Grand Prix this afternoon.
The 22-year-old believes that the work that was done during pit stops was vital in a result, which has seen him rise to fifth in the world standings.
"The team have done an incredible job," Perez told BBC Sport. "They called me [into the pits] always at the right time.
"Unfortunately Fernando pitted one lap earlier than us towards the end and he opened some gap. The pace was fantastic. I have to say many thanks to the team."
It was the first time that Perez had achieved a podium finish in his career.
